Kristen DeStigter, MD, Tampas Green and Gold professor and chair of radiology, received the 2018 Beth Kirkpatrick, MD Citizen of the World Award.

Today, the Imaging The World Africa team together with the visiting team from Malawi met Dr. Mihayo of the reproductive health division, Ministry of Health Kampala, Uganda.

Imaging The World hosted Dr Luis Aaron Gadama, a Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist from the University of Malawi, College of Medicine.

Imaging the World Africa was one of five awardees (out of 83 applicants) for the Outstanding Social Innovation in Health Uganda Award in Kampala, Uganda.

Jenna Morris, MPH, worked with a team from Imaging the World to research the use of ultrasound technology to highlight the risks of teen pregnancy in Ugandan high schools.

Dr. Anjuli Cherukuri recently presented research based on work with Imaging the World.  The presentation was titled: “Shake No Bake: A Homemade Ultrasound Gel Recipe for Low-Resource Settings.”

Dr Kristen Destigter was recently invited lecture at the World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) at the 2018 AIUM conference in New York.

The ITW team visited potential new sites in northern Uganda in the districts of Gulu and Lira where we hope to start activities soon.

With more trained personnel at the facility it ensures continuity of service when one of the nurses is away on leave, transferred, or away with other engagements. 

Ultrasound training was recently provided for four midwives at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital to provide hands-on and didactic knowledge in obstetrical ultrasound.

E-fast training equipped the sonographers with skills to quickly assess trauma patients. In particular, E-fast enables the sonographer to determine presence of fluid in the peritoneal cavity.

At the 24th annual scientific conference of the Uganda Society for Advanced of Radiology  and Imaging (USOFARI), Dr Kristen Destigter was presented an award in recognition of her invaluable efforts.

In an effort to extend affordable ultrasound services to different parts of the Uganda, the Imaging the World team recently visited various health centers in Northern Uganda.

Dr DeStigter, co-founder of Imaging the World, spokeat the RHD Stake Holder meeting in Kampala and described ITW’s work to integrate point-of-care ultrasound services into rural health centers.

Kristen DeStigter, co-founder of Imaging the World, has been appointed Chair of the Department of Radiology at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, and Health Care Service Chief of Radiology at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

At a recent visit to Nawanyago Health Centre III, the ITW team introduced a new way to explain ultrasound scan results to patients, their families, and other healthcare providers.

The point of care ultrasound program that Imaging the World has brought to Nawanyago Health Centre III is shifting the health of this entire community.
