ITW Consortium
for Health

Expert provider of ultrasound equipment, imaging care and training.

Consortium for Health

In 2022, Imaging the World set up the Consortium for Health in Kampala (CHI).  This ‘for-profit’ arm of the organization was conceived so that any profit made would help sustain and further fuel the work and efforts of the growing not-for-profit main body of Imaging The World.

CHI exists to be an expert provider of ultrasound imaging equipment and professional training services in East Africa.

The team is committed to improving health care delivery in sub-Saharan Africa through the provision of reliable ultrasound imaging services, equipment and training support in a sustainable manner.

Success to Date

So far at ITW CHI we have trained and qualified over 200 individuals. Included were physicians and radiologists trained in point-of-care ultrasound. Already at the center we:

  • Provide certified ultrasound training programs including our Basic Obstetrics & Gynecological Ultrasound Training

  • Deliver a residential training program for nurses and midwives

  • Offer advanced training programs and refresher courses for practitioners

  • Both sell and distribute high-quality state of the art ultrasound imaging equipment and accessories

  • Provide high-quality radiology services to patients in and around our premises

  • Offer Consultancy services (including guidance on Imaging Center/clinic set up)

  • Conduct research into different uses of imaging (and across the field of Imaging)

  • Hold learning conferences with the University of Vermont and radiology residencies for continued learning in Uganda

Our goal for the center moving forward is to:

  • Provide health education, research and innovation

  • Advance public and population health as well as technological development

  • Provide a wide range of radiology and imaging services

  • Carry out the business of import, export and distribution of radiological imaging equipment and other health care machinery and supplies

  • Provide consultancy, research and other related services

  • Work towards the delivery of AI-enabled ultrasound.

The ITW Consortium for Health has a great vision for the future with ambitions to distribute radiology equipment and supplies and move towards AI-enabled ultrasound.
