First impressions on Uganda
The first few days in Africa have been incredible. This is my first time in Africa, and I have not been disappointed. There are some ways that Uganda is similar and different to the way I thought it would be. One of these ways is that Uganda is similar to my previous ideas about Africa is the population. The cities/towns are as busy as those in the United States. I also had idea that there would be so many people riding bike and motorcycles and walking along the roads. Because it is such a rural area, most of the roads are dirt. There are actually more dirt roads here, than there are in Vermont. I didn’t think that was possible!
Uganda is incredibly beautiful and the landscape is very lushest and green. Once we left Kampala, the capital of Uganda, I realized how vast and spectacular the hillsides and farms are.
Another thing that is very different from our lifestyle America is the transportation. It's quite interesting to see how the bustling and speeding cars, trucks, bikes, boda-bodas and pedestrians all seem to work together in unison to make a perfectly functional system (which I still don't quite understand yet).
Overall, I have been very impressed with the experience I’ve had on this trip and I am excited to see what's going to happen next!
