Congratulations, Anna Franceschetti!
This past year Kristen DeStigter and Mary Streeter had the pleasure of being community advisors for 2 high school seniors as they completed their Grad Challenge Projects. The students traveled with the Imaging the World Team to Uganda last August. Their projects centered around women's health in Africa. Imaging the World is pleased to announce that Anna Franceschetti's project earned high honors. We are so impressed with your dedication and the quality of your final presentation. Congratulations to you, Anna!
Anna: For my project with ITW, I revised and analyzed surveys to see what patients' and the communities' perceptions of ultrasound technology were to determine the efficacy of the ITW program. Throughout this process I worked with Dr. Magdalena Naylor, a psychiatrist at Fletcher Allen. Together we made changes to achieve greater clarity depth and consistency among surveys as well as analyzing the results months after returning home from Uganda. I then wrote a paper summarizing my findings and helped to coauthor an abstract that was submitted to the Radiology Society of North America. This was my first true hands on learning experience and it gave me a great insight into what the real world of medicine is like, as well a new perspective of the world. This has been one of the most meaningful experience I have ever participated in.
