Benefit Concerts for ITW in Chicago and Ann Arbor
The first of two benefit events for Imaging the World will be held on Monday, November 26 in Chicago at Mom’s Place (650 N. Dearborn St.) from 9-11:30 pm. Live music will be provided by the band “Room Service” where the musicians are radiologists. The band decided to choose ITW for their charity event because of the use of ultrasound in ITW’s work. The event coincides with a gathering of radiologists for the Radiological Society of North America national conference.
There is no cover charge for the event, as the goal is to promote ITW and accept donations online or at the event. Proceeds from the bar will also go toward ITW.
The second charity event is on Friday, November 30th in Ann Arbor, Michigan at dessous (a lounge and restaurant), at 312 South Main Street from 7-9:30 pm. Live music will be provided by the band “Jenn and Tonic.” This event will promote ITW and the Warm Hearts Foundation to support the organizations’ collaboration in bringing ultrasound to Uganda and Malawi. There is no cover charge for the event. Donations will be accepted online or at the event.
Jon Jacobson, MD, professor of radiology at the University of Michigan, is organizing the events. Jon spent a week in Uganda last summer with ITW teaching shoulder ultrasound to broaden the use of ultrasound in Uganda to include the musculoskeletal system.
Jon is also the bass player in each band. Additionally, one of the Warm Hearts Foundation Directors, Bob Garvey, will be sitting in on drums for the 2nd set of the Ann Arbor event.
