Dr Delia Horn to study impact of ultrasound screening on pregnancy outcomes in Uganda
A pilot study will soon begin to assess the impact of ultrasound pregnancy screening on neonatal outcomes in Uganda. Dr Delia Horn, a physician at the University of Vermont Medical Center, will look at the relation between the findings of ultrasounds that were performed at a rural Health Centre and the survival of the infants, as well as whether those infants required resuscitation following delivery.
The data will help Imaging the World improve care recommendations for expectant mothers so that their children can be delivered safely. We hope this will be a step towards improved utilization of ultrasound services that can continue to improve the health and survival of newborn babies in Uganda.
